Park Thistle 2 FC Annan 3
Park trailed third placed Annan only on goal difference before the game and knew three points were a must if they were to retain any hopes of catching Dumfries in the play off slot, but Annan needed the win to keep alive their own play off dreams. The two sides cancelled eachother out for large spells of the first half with chances at a premium and it took until the 38th minutes for the deadlock to be broken as Annan broke down the left and a dangerous ball was flashed across goal and knocked in at the back post. Park were then hit with a sucker punch on the stroke of half time when a similar goal put them two behind. Five minutes into the second half Owen Welsh burst through the middle and when the defender halted his run illegally the referee didn't hesitate to pull out the red card. Ten minutes later Robbie Simpson waltzed into the box and when he cut back his legs were taken by the defender and Park had a penalty kick, which Dougie Rae duly converted for his seventh goal in nine games to move into double figures for the season. But just as Park were looking to build momentum Annan were awarded a penalty of their own to restore the two goal cushion. Park couldn't capitalise on the extra man as Annan defended well, but Robbie Simpson was played in by Quinn Rogerson to pull one back to set up a frantic last ten minutes. Park did have a couple of chances to snatch a point and thought they had done so on the 90th minute when Quinn Rogerson smashed a half volley from twelve yards but watched in agony as it came back off the post and was cleared.
