Park Thistle 2 Dumfries Athletic 2
The highly anticipated final match of the season between these two fierce rivals saw Park needing to win but Dumfries needing just a point to confirm second spot. A highly charged opening 20 minutes saw plenty of midfield action but little in front of either goal, until a ball into the Park box saw the defender stumble and handle the ball, with the referee awarding a spot kick which was duly dispatched. Park pushed forward and were rewarded with the equaliser on 41 minutes as Robbie Simpson rose to bullet home a header. The match was more notable for tough tackling than efforts at goal and in the 69th minute Park were down to ten men as Quinn Rogerson was shown a second yellow. A couple of minutes later Dumfries were in front again with a ball over the top of the defence finding Alan Milligan who lobbed the keeper. Despite being a man down Park pushed forward and levelled again as debutante Chris Bailey fed Robbie Simpson to curl a left footed effort past the Dumfries keeper on 75 minutes, A few minutes later the numbers were levelled up as a Dumfries player saw red after an aggressive challenge on Robbie. Neither side could find a winner in the final ten minutes and Dumfries celebrated the point which clinched a play off berth.
