Palmerston Colts 8 Park Thistle 2

Park faced Premier opposition in the First Round of the Houliston cup and knew they would have to be at their best to have any hopes of progressing. A fine start saw them ahead after seven minutes, as Robbie Simpson headed on to Owen Welsh who lashed home from the left hand side of the box, Thistle were looking comfortable but in the 16th minute the Colts attacker broke down the left and cut across the box to slot home the equaliser from a narrow angle and Palmerston were ahead on 23 minutes with a rocket of a free kick, A 31st minute penalty then looked to have given the Premier side control but Park came back and a couple of minutes later Robbie Simpson drove down the left and crossed for Owen Welsh to add his second. Palmerston restored the two goal cushion before the break and opened the second half by firing the ball down the right wing where the striker outmuscled the defender and smashed home the fifth, after that Park struggled to make much further impact as the tie went away from them. Palmerston added their sixth ten minutes later and a seventh on 70 minutes as a mishit clearance dropped to the striker inside the 6 yard box, they even had the luxury of hitting the bar with a second penalty before wrapping up the scoring five minutes from time.
