Park Thistle 3 Annan Town 4
After a midweek defeat Park knew only a big win against premier Annan would give them a chance of making the quarters, and a bright start could have seen them take the lead but Robbie Simpson saw his header saved. Annan began to take control of the game and in the quarter hour mark scored from a corner then a couple of minutes later, with Tyler Jamieson off the pitch receiving treatment Annan drove through the middle to double their advantage and it could have been worse on the half hour but Kriss Lismanis saved a penalty to keep Park in the game. Park could have reduced the deficit before the break but after good work done the right Kai Abraham fired over the bar. It was 2.1 on 55 minutes as Robert Clyde found space on the right, knocked the ball past the keeper and his effort trickled over the line. Within five minutes Annan restored the cushion with a free kick from the edge of the box and with ten minutes to play looked to have killed the game with a looping header into the top corner. Park rallied and Adrian Hughes reduced the arrears from close range following a corner and 2 minutes from time Jamie Simpson slotted home a penalty but any hopes of a point were dashed when Robbie saw red for dissent after disagreeing with an offside call. Thursday night sees Park open their league campaign with a trip to FC Annan.
