FC Annan 0 Park Thistle 2
FC Annan 0 Park Thistle 2 Park travelled to Annan with a paper thin squad to open their league campaign against a side who will be amongst the favourites for the First Division title. The visitors started well though and went ahead on ten minutes as Robbie Simpson was played down the right and drove forward to slip the ball past the keeper into the net. Annan came back into the match and dominated possession but the Park defence stood firm with little to note in the way of chances for the rest of the first half. Ten minutes into the second half Dougie Rae held the ball up and played in Robbie who went down in the box but the ref waved away the pleas. Just after the hour mark Annan thought they had levelled as a ball was played into the box and the striker sent a volley goalwards only to see Kriss Lismanis dive full length to pull off an astounding save. Five minutes later Annan had another chance to level but the striker saw his effort graze the top of the crossbar. With ten minutes left Nik Lismanis broke from the edge of his own 18 yard box into open space and let fly from 30 yards, his effort dipping just under the bar to seal three crucial points for Park.
