Shawbridge Lions 7 Park Thistle 0
The eagerly awaited Scottish Trophy away day in Glasgow turned into a bit of a damp squib for Park as they were torn apart by the hosts in rain lashed conditions. Shawbridge started on the front foot and after sustained pressure the unfortunate Cole Rogerson miscued a clearance to give the home side a 9th minute lead. The Lions attack were causing problems at will and ten minutes later the striker jinked into the box and Cole left out a leg giving away a penalty which was duly dispatched. The third came five minutes later as the striker cut in from the left and finished well and within two minutes it was four as a ball over the top caught out Park and the attacker raced through to score. A massacre looked in the cards but Park dug in to finish the first half without conceding further. Thistle looked better second half as the tried to find a way back ino the match but a fifth for Shawbridge on 62 minutes killed any hopes as Chris Mitchell deflected a free kick past his own keeper. Parks closest effort came on 66 minutes as a Dougie Rae effort hit the crossbar. The home side were playing some lovely passing football and added a sixth on 72 minutes as the played through the middle and on 74 minutes it was seven from a narrow angle on the left. Kriss Lismanis in the Park goal was man of the match as he produced some top drawer stops to keep the score down. Good luck to Shawbridge in the next round; but Park will have to hope to bounce back from the disappointment when it's back to league business on Sunday.
