Park Thistle 1 Queens Bar 3

Despite a good cup win over Queens Bar to open the season Park were expecting a stern test against one of their main league rivals. Queens have bolstered their squad and were looking for revenge to underline their title credentials. Queens Bar started on the front foot and went ahead after 12 minutes as a throw in was only half cleared and as the defence came out the ball was returned to the unmarked striker to lash home. Park settled but Queens continued to look dangerous and the next goal was going to be vital. It was Park who levelled the match on 38 minutes as Jonny Riddick played in Dougie Rae who took a touch and slotted past the keeper from the left of the box. Into the second half it was Queens who went ahead again on 65 minutes with a ball down the inside left and a calm finish. As Park pressed for the equaliser Queens were content to counter and were denied by the woodwork on 3 or 4 occasions and two minutes from time a 40 yard free kick caught out the keeper to give Queens a two goal win.
